Q Are there any prizes?
A There are no prizes except your own sense of achievement. Every rider will get a medal and a personalised certificate stating that they have completed the Wicklow 200 or Wicklow Challenge. Your medal and certificate will be handed to you as soon as you check in at the finish.
Q Who organises the Wicklow 200?
A The Wicklow 200 has been organised every year since 1982 by the Irish Veteran Cyclists Association.
Q My spouse/partner/family/friend will be with me but won’t be riding. Can they give a hand at the start?
A Of course. We’re always looking for people to help for a couple of hours at the start. Just contact admin@Wicklow200.ie.
Q Have you any other tips for riding the Wicklow 200?
A Yes, please ride safely and with care. The Wicklow 200 is not a race. You must obey the rules of the road, and you must show consideration for other cyclists and other road users. Every year there are some accidents, usually caused by careless or thoughtless riding, and frequently on downhill sections of the route. Please take care, and encourage riders around you to do so too.
Hi All,
By now I hope you have all got down to doing some practice and planning for this years event. Do you remember the glorious day that we had at last year’s Wicklow 200? Do you remember the lady who came along on the day to Shoreline and helped to get some of you back into shape after it. Not an easy task after you had just completed one of the hardest days cycling you will ever do.
Let me tell you it was Karen Doyle, one of Ireland’s best cycle Physical Therapist’s. Karen came along on the day to help and gave all the funds you donated to her on the day to that great charity,”Search for the Missing”.
Karen who also did some brilliant articles for us last year, starts 2014 with her one on Prevention of injury, a subject I know is very near and dear to our hearts. Injury Prevention part 1………..
Entries for this years event so far are up over 20% on 2013, please enter early to avoid disappointment later. We would love to hear from you.
Kind regards,
The Wicklow200 Team
